International Admissions

At St George’s we are proud to have a diverse pupil body and we warmly welcome overseas pupils to be part of our excellent boarding community

St George’s is very conveniently located for overseas boarders with London Heathrow Airport only a 20 minute car journey away, and a 25 mile, 45 minute journey to central London.

Our friendly and supportive atmosphere makes it easy for pupils to settle into the school and make friendships that last a lifetime.

Applying for a Place

For the majority of applicants who are able to visit us in person, we can arrange for pupils to sit their entrance assessment and have their interview during their visit. Applicants will also have the opportunity to meet some current pupils and enjoy lunch in the dining hall.

We understand that for many families, visiting in person is not possible and so for many the first stage of the application process is to register your daughter.

International applicants should first complete the online registration process and then email a copy of their passport, birth certificate (with certified translation if not written in English) and latest school report to admissions@stgeorges-ascot.org.uk.

Virtual Open Events

We are delighted to be offering overseas families the opportunity to join a Virtual Open Morning for International Families. Visit our Admissions Events page for more information or to book your place on the next event, which takes place on Friday 17 May at 9.30am (BST) respectively.

English as an Additional Language

St George’s has a very strong EAL department which is there to help pupils access the school curriculum. All our EAL lessons are conducted on a one-to-one basis, although our EAL teachers work closely with academic subject teachers and form tutors to ensure that EAL pupils are receiving the specific language support they need. Generally upon entrance we will advise you as to how many extra English lessons your daughter will require and these will be charged at an additional cost. As your daughter progresses and becomes more and more proficient in command of English we will review the numbers of lessons on a termly basis with the aim of reducing them based on a pupil's progress.

We also help our pupils to prepare for any external examinations such as IELTS, the English proficiency test accepted by British Universities, and provide the internationally recognised Cambridge exams should the girls wish to take this (PET, FCE and CAE) with the final exam taken at a certified test centre. We aim that all our pupils will achieve IELTS 7.5 by the time they leave St George’s ready for university entrance.

Acceptance of a Place

Following the formal offer of a place, parents are asked to accept their daughter’s place at St George’s within two weeks and to pay the deposit. The deposit is refundable less any outstanding fees owing to the school by means of a credit to the final payment when your daughter leaves St George’s. The deposit will be retained should the accepted place not be taken up.

Visas - UK Student and Child Student Visa Routes

St George’s sponsors pupils with Child Student Visas or Student Visas (16+), throughout their senior school educations.

To ensure the best possible service and advice to parents, St George's immigration work is outsourced to Newland Chase Education who are a specialist immigration law firm. They will manage the visa application process on behalf of St George's and your daughter, and any subsequent renewals as she progresses through the school. Newland Chase Education will complete all the forms ensuring full compliance with UKVI regulations, ensuring the chance of a successful application is maximised. The school will require you to use the services of Newland Chase Education in any visa application and will not accept any third party arrangement.

There will be a one off administration charge for this service of £795 which you should pay on acceptance of your daughter’s place, together with the acceptance deposit.

Guardianship

It’s essential and also a legal requirement, that all parents not permanently resident in the UK, appoint a guardian for their daughter(s).

Guardians should be arranged by the pupil’s own family. The guardian may be a nominated family friend or relative, and should be able to correspond with the school in English.

If a family has difficulty in finding a suitable guardian, St George’s can supply a list of approved guardian agencies who will assist with supplying a guardian.
