A Levels

Studying for A Levels at St George’s is a time of balance; it is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to deepen the focus of their academic studies but simultaneously we encourage the girls to broaden their education by engaging in the vibrant co-curricular life of the School.

Although we operate a selective entry procedure here at St George’s, we deliberately encourage a broad range of abilities at the School. What we are looking for is potential, and we measure ourselves on the value that we add for our girls. In preparation for University applications and future employment, we encourage our pupils to take at least three A Levels whilst also engaging in a breadth of co-curricular activities. We recognise that while some girls are comfortable in traditional academic subjects, others may incline towards less traditional fields. Whatever our pupils natural talents or personal ambitions, our specialist support, our excellent teaching, our small class sizes and our extra clinics provide the support our pupils need to gain at least a grade higher in their A Levels than they would otherwise achieve.

We are, therefore, confident in our ability to produce exceptional results, particularly when combined with the value we add, judged by baseline testing, which outperforms most other schools in the region and places us in the top 5% nationally.

To enter the Sixth Form, we require six 9 - 4 grades at GCSE with at least a 6 grade in each subject desired for study at A Level.
