What do I need to wear?

The Sixth Form Dress Code

You are expected to look smart at all times and set a good example to the younger years. During the school day (8.15 am to 4.00pm unless a girl is on prep duty or has a School commitment)​​​​​​

  1. Sixth Form pupils do not wear school uniform but the dress code expects a pupil to look smart
    and tidy at all times during the academic day. We seek to promote a professional, tailored
    appearance which is practical and presentable. During the academic day (8.15am to 4.00pm, unless supervising prep when it is expected that the Sixth Form Dress Code should be adhered to)
  2. A jacket of any colour – tailored and of a smart fabric. This needs to worn for assemblies and chapel. 

  3. No leather or denim jackets are permitted. Jackets may be removed during lessons.

  4. Trousers – of a smart fabric. Jeans and leggings are for casual wear and not acceptable during the working day. Please avoid leather

  5. Skirts – a tailored/smart skirt of a smart fabric. The length of the skirt must be appropriate.

  6. Dress - of a smart fabric, the length of which should be appropriate.

  7. A shirt or a blouse (i.e. with a collar) or a smart top without a collar. Low cut tops, see-through tops, strappy tops or those that show cleavage or midriff are not appropriate for the working day.

  8. Jumpers may be worn as an alternative to a shirt/ blouse under the jacket.

  9. Shorts, sweatshirts, hoodies are not acceptable.

  10. Smart shoes, boots or smart trainers should be worn. Please avoid Flip flops, canvas shoes, sports trainers, Ugg boots and crocs which are not allowed.

  11. Scarves e.g. pashminas and headscarves should be smart and suitable.

  12. Hats and coats must not to be worn indoors. Smart coats may be worn outside when moving between buildings but must be removed upon entering the classroom. Absolutely no puffer jackets or sports coats at any time.

  13. Girls may wear discreet jewellery which must be removed for Physical Education.

  14. Make-up must be natural and discreet.

  15. Piercings: you may have pierced ears. Body piercings, other than earrings, are not allowed.

  16. Tattoos are unacceptable.

  17. Hair should be of a natural colour.

Girls may dress down on Fridays before Exeat and Half Term Fridays except if they have a School commitment.

Formal occasions

A smart tailored black suit, a jacket and skirt/trousers of the same matching fabric with a white collared shirt.

Examples of formal occasions include

  • The last day of each term

  • The Carol Concert

  • Prize Giving

  • Awards
